ARTIST STATEMENT:
As a kid one of my favorite hobbies was collecting things. I would come home with pockets full of rocks and handfuls of flowers, along with other things that most people would consider trash, adding them to my prized collections. To this day not much has changed, I still actively collect weird things, which I like to refer to as “creative hoarding”. My fondness of collections inspired me to create my very own accumulation of oddities.
My work is an assemblage of interrelated pieces portraying otherworldly creations using symbolism and dualism. My imagery depicts the coalescence of obsolete and existing objects to form something of new meaning. My process is based upon collaging magazines, found materials, and patterned prints to mix and match imagery. Using that imagery, I render it into a drawing to be made into a print, where I then add elements of collage and monoprint to truly make it one-of-a-kind.
